A Look Under the Hood at Sage Data
While the Sage Data Service blog usually features insights about the market, today I want to focus inward. I am proud about what my coworkers have accomplished thus far, so let’s look a little under the hood at our operations.
Presently, we have three main offices, our headquarters in San Francisco, our technical operations in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and our financial data center in Youngstown, Ohio. While many of the strategic decisions are made in San Francisco, the other two offices represent the heartbeat of our operation. In Plovdiv, we have developed state of the art technology to quickly process and analyze SEC Filings that are in both XBRL and HTML format. We have developed a user interface that allows us to cover the fundamentals of the entire U.S. market with just 3 analysts. Our tool maximizes the XBRL format and very quickly and easily disseminates information from SEC Filings. Additionally, our developers manage an ever increasing database of all the data that we produce and they have built and maintain a robust platform for displaying the data. Our technology is the foundation for what we do.
In Youngstown, our team of U.S. based financial analysts build upon our technical foundation. They have put in place a series of processes and procedures to ensure that all of the data we produce is consistent and accurate. Utilizing the XBRL interface, our team in Youngstown defines and programs the parameters for each company, and multiple analysts often review those parameters for accuracy. We have complete transparency on how each item on each financial statement was calculated by our analysts. Our team in Youngstown includes some of the most professional people with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working, and they ensure that all the data that we produce sets the standard for accuracy.
As we move forward, we continually seek to add new data, and more historical data to our database. Given our technology and our outstanding team in Youngstown, I am very optimistic that we will continue to make financial data more available, more transparent and more affordable.
