New Features Have Arrived to the Research Platform

Last week, our COO Sean Engmann took the time to take you under the hood of Sage Data Service, so to speak. It helps to know where and how the data that is being displayed on our research platform is mined.

This week, I want to look at some of our newer features. The first, is our Stock Screener. This makes the investing experience clearer and more efficient; saving time that can be spent using our other tools to enhance your investment techniques. Sage’s Stock Screener is a great way to filter stocks based on a variety of variables, including sector and market cap. Below is a visual of our screener:

Once you have compiled a list of companies using the filters, a user can export that list into Excel in order to perform any additional calculations they desire. The future will bring more additional options to this feature, including more options to filter and the ability to transfer your list of companies into the custom export function. Once in the custom export tab, users would be able to export the financials of their selected organizations again into Excel to do further analysis.

Another improvement the platform has gone through is a revamped stock overview page. Upon selecting the stock info tab, and inputting the desired company name or symbol, users are taken to an overview page that looks like this:

There have been a few new additions to the overview page. First, dividend information is provided in the valuation chart. This alerts the user to the Ex-Dividend Date and Dividend Per Share. Another new feature is a chart that shows how the organization’s stock has performed in comparison with the other stocks analyzed currently by Sage Data Service. Finally, a stock price chart allows users to see the performance of a companies stock over the periods of time selectable from the table above the chart.

Sticking with the theme of charts, there is a new chart page accessible through the Stock Info tab. This chart shows the movement of stock by a variety of indicators, including simple moving average and volume of stock traded. These features can be used as well to make important decisions for an organization. A user can use the charts, coupled with information on major events like mergers & acquisitions available in the SEC Forms tab, to determine how those activities impacted stock price.
